Gears of War - Fanfiction Alita

Gears of War - Fanfiction AlitaI recently had an interesting conversation with a gentleman who owns a website about all things Gears of War and he told me that his favorite Gears of War character is called Alita (also known as Sister). He loved Alita because she was incredibly strong and independent and showed no interest in the likes of Marcus, whom she loathed. When I explained to him that in all honesty, he was right, he did have a point. What he loves about Alita is that she has no fear or hesitation when facing a problem or going up against an enemy.This isn't a typical Gears of War fanfiction where we are presented with a story of one of the three main characters overcoming adversity and playing a pivotal role in the plot line. While Marcus is considered the headstrong badass, Alita on the other hand is not. She's much more like Marcus and that's part of what makes her unique.The basic plot of Fanfiction Alita revolves around the escape of a nun named Sister from the Covenant, an organisation of renegade super-soldiers. Her reason for wanting to escape is to see the world and discover her true purpose in life.Alita is different from the normal soldiers, who are brave but stupid and hearken back to the Horde from the first two games. Here, the trope of the dumb, bumbling soldier has been replaced by something far more interesting and reflective of the time in which it was created. It's a look at a future that is less about killing and more about training our youth to be tough and to stand up to the challenges of their time.If we think about how the world used to be, in the absence of any government, in the same era that we were given the game Fortnite, it's no wonder that a young man or woman would choose to build their lives around war. Nowadays, that kind of thing justdoesn't happen and we're better off because of it.The games that surround Fortnite represent a future that many people would rather see that not too far away, as I'm sure we all would love to see it. It's just that those people are too busy working to go out and look for the exact opportunity. I can only hope that those people don't exist in reality because it would be a shame if they did.I like the fact that Fanfiction Alita is about that other side of the war and about how the people who live there really feel. Gears of War was about a better future that simply did not exist because we had not yet caught up with the age in which the game was released.
